BioBased Insulation makes a spray in insulation that is soy based. It is environmentally friendly, healthy, VOC free, pest resistant, water based and acts as a vapor retardant. I figured a house that was 20′ by 50′ with 2×6 framing and 2×12 roof joists and got an estimate of $7,800 which seems a bit steep. And with an R-value of 13 with standard 2×4 framing, it isn’t that impressive for the price either considering you can get an R15 out of your typical 3.5″ pink fiberglass insulation.
